One of the things I really love about Custom Rigs readers is every one of you are proud to be truckers, and each of you take a lot of pride in the rig your drive that brings food to your tables–and ours. The other thing I enjoy is when you take the time to share photos with our staff of what you’re doing and the rigs you’re driving. I thought I’d share a couple of the latest that came in yesterday…

Consumer magazines cover trucks as a hobby, but there’s never been a single source of information on trucks for contractors– until now. That’s the premise of ProPickup. Last year we surveyed the readers of our construction magazines, Equipment World, Total Landscape Care, Better Roads and Aggregates Manager, and found that you own more than a million pickup trucks. That’s an average of eight per company…

      ROADKING SHOCKS
Big-Bore mono tube design provides better ride & handling under all driving/load conditions

I had an interesting conversation a while back with the owner of a late-50’s Mack who was in the throe’s of a full-on restoration. He was telling about all the things he was doing and how proud he was of how it was coming together. When the conversation turned to the interior he made the passing remark about going to put in a 4-track tape deck. Later I got to thinking about how custom truck owners love their music and seem to always have a sound system in their rigs. But a 4-track in an old Mack? No way. I had a 4-track at one time and I know it was way after 1960. But I kept my mouth shut not actually knowing what “period” sound system might be more appropriate–until now…
