In the neighborhood of 5,000,000 miles in a 35 career. Now retired. At least for my last 5 years I was runnin’ 700 to 1100 miles in any 24 hour period my truck was loaded. I spent very little time not loaded. In the 5 years I was with my last company I had maybe 1 day of layover each year, if I was lucky. By-the-way, after a quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2002, and from dealing with sleep apnea, I was forced into retirement from exhaustion. I would go and do it again, but am dang choosy about who I would work for. And, with the new regulations + my past health issues + my age I don’t seem to get past submitting applications.
Drivers, take care of yourselves out there. I had a good run because I ran when we still ran for the brand. But, just know your limits, and stop when it is time to rest.
